My Cup runneth over.....with ego and boastfulness

Just writing to remind everyone of the glorious, early summer World Cup win for Italy. It was a spectacular day for us -- although by the last penalty kick, we realized we were in a predominantly French bar -- who knew downtown Toronto had such a large French fan base? Although two months have passed, I'm posting this blog now because I have just received my pics from the celebrations that day in Toronto on St. Clair Avenue and wanted to share/flaunt them.

As we dashed out of the bar that day, exuberant and fearful for our lives, we headed to Corso Italia along with every other greaseball to celebrate. It was a reunion of sorts -- we bumped into tonnes of people we haven't seen or thought of in ages -- and we stayed out 'til 1am even though we had to work the next day. There was a lot of dancing, yelling, hugging and some sights that we won't see until the next WC win - e.g. lamb on a leash spray painted the colours of the Italian flag, Roman soldier costumes and wildly decorated people and cars.

A special 'cornuto" goes out to the French who can't handle simple, meaningless taunts from fellow players and to the Aussies who still have a long way to go to learn about the beautiful game. So as the World Cup becomes a distant memory, I am here to etch the events of that day in the minds of my fellow readers (plus it took this long to develop my pictures and throw a blog together).

I've also included some end of summer pics from Toronto's annual air show (or the 'Rock Me Like a Hurricane' Festival -- Simpsons fans will understand) which can be conveniently viewed from my balcony. It signals the end of our summer and the return to all things bleak and dreary. So for all you northern hemisphere dwellers, you can appreciate the woefulness of the end of this glorious season -- we still have a few days left technically but it's not the same.

p.s. you can stuff your angry retorts in a sack, mister! (Seinfeld fans will understand).

Fearful for your lives is right! A friend of mine was shot at while she was celebrating the Azzurri win downtown! Good thing she's a lawyer. Bad thing that the person who shot at her was a repeat offender and released after a few days!

Well, Well, Well Soccer fan...No need to have a go at the Aussies, It's one thing to celebrate a win but its another thing to belittle an opposition that you only beat by cheating just so that you could negate masses of guilt that would otherwise keep you awake for eternity! Shame on you!...It seems that cheating is quite common place in Italy though, just ask Juventus. As for teaching the Aussies about the beautiful game, I think you mean cheating the Aussies out of the beautiful game you dyslexic pseudo soccer fan. A true football fan would be big enough to admit that their side were a pack of cheats with an atrocious performance like that! By the way does Canada have a side?

you must be some sort of ignorant nit wit -- dirty play is what the Aussies are about (akin to Portugal), you want to talk about cheating, what about the first 10 minutes of the final Italy-France game -- what about that injustice? and then Italy still comes back and takes it in the end...don't remember? ya, I thought so...and atrocious performance? you don't recall the Germany-Italy game's beautiful play on both parts...the Aussies will never play like that in your lifetime...
why don't you have the class to expose yourself you whining troglodyte?
Shame on you for hiding behind the medium to shield your brutishness manner... yes, I will reveal myself when your cowardly face exposes itself

Anonymous is pretty bitterfaced. Cool Age should apologize to him/her immediately. Cool Age should tell Anonymous (let's call you Nonny for fun) that he's sorry that Nonny obviously didn't make the cut to play for Nonny's national soccer team and that CoolAge is sorry an Italian made the cut instead.

So what Nonny if you think all Italians are cheats. Get over it.
There are worthier world causes for you to grunt about.
